The work we undertake at and through CPMG is governed by legislation including but not limited to:
Peri – Urban Landholder Day 12th April 2019
Information sessions during the day included:
Drone Demonstration and Weed Location Imagery by Jamie Holyoak – Saunders Havill Group
Landcare and Legislative Requirements – RRC and FBA
Animal Biosecurity by Olivia Raeburn – Department of Agriculture and Fisheries
Granular Products Discussion by Sam Doust and Wilson McKenzie – Granular Products
It was a successful information sharing and networking opportunity for professional officers around the region. The Weed Imagery and drone discussions were well received and attracted media attention. Helicopter flying in was a highlight of the event. It was great to have Stephen Andrew MP for Mirani address the crowd and talk about his experiences with feral pigs. Matt Mollard arrived in his Helicopter and discussed his recent work with FBA who provided funding to Fitzroy River landholders to conduct aerial feral pig shoots along the Fitzroy. 90 pigs were sighted and all were shot. FBA have since mapped an aerial view of a pig track sighted on the shoot. This project was to protect the low numbers of a specific species of turtle found only in this region and to knock down the vast numbers of pigs known in this area.
